Only the Physical Protection Device may not be sufficient  for the safety studies carried out according to EN ISO 12100 Machinery Safety  Standards. Points such as crossing points, doors, entry-exit stations should be  controlled with Safety Sensors and a safety automation infrastructure should be  established that can be included in machine / line automation. (EN ISO 13849-1)
